DEDICA (Journal of Research and Community Service) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring the originality of all published articles. To prevent plagiarism and other forms of unethical academic practices, all submitted manuscripts undergo a plagiarism screening process before entering the peer-review stage.
The plagiarism screening process is conducted using appropriate plagiarism detection software to identify similarities between submitted manuscripts and previously published works, online sources, and other academic documents. The screening aims to ensure that manuscripts submitted to DEDICA represent original scholarly contributions and properly acknowledge all referenced ideas, statements, data, and sources.
DEDICA applies a maximum similarity threshold of 20% for submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding this limit will be returned to the authors for revision and clarification before proceeding to the peer-review process. Authors are required to reduce unnecessary similarities, improve paraphrasing, and ensure that all sources are properly cited according to academic writing standards.
The plagiarism screening process does not only evaluate the similarity percentage but also considers the context of identified similarities, including appropriate quotations, commonly used academic expressions, methodological terminology, and properly cited references. The final decision regarding manuscript acceptance based on plagiarism screening results is determined by the editor after considering the originality, academic contribution, and ethical compliance of the manuscript.
DEDICA does not tolerate any form of plagiarism, including direct plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, improper citation, or the use of others’ ideas, data, or works without appropriate acknowledgment. Manuscripts proven to contain plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct may be rejected, and further actions may be taken in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Through this plagiarism screening policy, DEDICA seeks to uphold academic honesty, protect intellectual property rights, and ensure that all published articles meet high standards of originality, credibility, and scholarly integrity.
