Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the influence of the school environment on students' learning motivation at SD Negeri 37 Talang Kelapa. The main objective is to identify how physical and social aspects of the school environment affect students' enthusiasm and engagement in the learning process. The school environment, including cleanliness, availability of learning facilities, classroom comfort, and social interactions among school members, serves as the primary variables observed. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving teachers, school leaders, and students. The results reveal that inadequate physical conditions, such as damaged classrooms, poor sanitation facilities, and limited access to learning resources negatively impact students’ motivation. Conversely, supportive social conditions, including positive teacher-student relationships and effective communication within the school community, significantly enhance students’ drive to learn. The findings imply that improving physical infrastructure and fostering positive social interactions are essential for building a conducive educational environment. Furthermore, the study encourages policymakers to respond more attentively to the real conditions faced by elementary schools, especially those in under-resourced areas.
