Abstract
This study focuses on exploring the effectiveness of the Iqra’ method in enhancing Qur’anic reading skills among children at TPA Miftahusalam. The primary aim of this research is to gain an in-depth understanding of how the Iqra’ method is implemented and its impact on children’s ability to read the Qur’an, including the recognition of hijaiyah letters, accurate pronunciation (makharijul huruf), and the ability to read simple words and sentences. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth observation of the learning process, semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of learning activity documentation and student progress records. The findings indicate that the Iqra’ method is implemented systematically and structurally at TPA Miftahusalam, with an emphasis on the Talaqqi approach (listening and repeating) and consistent repetition. Observations and interviews reveal that this method is effective in introducing hijaiyah letters and improving children's pronunciation skills. The majority of students demonstrated significant progress in their Qur’anic reading ability after undergoing instruction using the Iqra’ method. Although there are challenges, such as varying learning speeds among students and difficulties in distinguishing makharijul huruf, overall, the method has a positive impact on children’s reading ability and learning motivation. The implications of this study specifically validate the effectiveness of the Iqra’ method at TPA Miftahusalam and recommend the continued enhancement and maintenance of its implementation quality. In general, this research supports the adoption of the Iqra’ method as an effective approach to early childhood Qur’anic education, while highlighting the need to consider student learning variability and the provision of adequate individual support. Future research is recommended to explore other factors influencing the effectiveness of the Iqra’ method and to conduct studies on a larger scale with a longitudinal design to observe long-term impacts.
