The Effectiveness of Group Approach in Class Management in Mathematics Lessons at SDN 11 Suak Tapeh Efektivitas Pendekatan Kelompok Dalam Manajemen Kelas Pada Pelajaran Matematika Di SDN 11 Suak Tapeh
Main Article Content
Abstract
The group approach prioritizes the structured arrangement and optimization of interactions among students within a group activity to facilitate the achievement of learning objectives, thereby enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the teaching and learning process. This research aimed to determine the extent to which group-based learning methods can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts and foster their cooperation and communication skills in the classroom. Data for this qualitative study were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students as informants. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman technique, encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the implementation of the group approach significantly increased students' active participation in the learning process, enhanced their motivation, and improved their learning outcomes in mathematics. Specifically, observable increases in student engagement during group tasks and positive feedback from both students and teachers regarding collaborative learning experiences were noted. However, challenges were observed where some students exhibited a lack of focus and a tendency to socialize excessively with their group members. Consequently, the study suggests the necessity of supplementary strategies to optimize the effectiveness of this approach, ensuring greater student discipline and active involvement in learning.
