Membangun Karakter Santri: Peran Pendidikan dan Keterlibatan Keluarga di Pesantren
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research focuses on an in-depth study of the pesantren education system, aiming to explore the factors influencing the success and challenges faced in the development of education based on Islamic values. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research was conducted in several pesantren that adopt both traditional and modern education systems. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document studies, and then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the success of pesantren education is significantly influenced by the role of the caretakers as central figures, the depth of knowledge and exemplary behavior of the teachers, and the social cohesion between the students and the pesantren community. The challenges faced include limited facilities, resistance to innovation, and the need for improved institutional management. This research implies the necessity of strengthening the capacity of educators, modernizing the curriculum while remaining rooted in traditional values, and fostering synergy with external parties to support the sustainability of pesantren. Recommendations for future research include further exploring the adaptation strategies of pesantren to technological developments and global educational needs, ensuring that these institutions remain a bastion of progressive and competitive Islamic education.
